SMSC

At Dawley Academy, SMSC is taught throughout our RE and our PSHE curriculum.

Spiritual: Children are given a variety of opportunities to engage in Spiritual opportunities, with experiences at our local church, and with our local Christian Centre, and well as our links with Telford Minster.  Each classroom has a prayer station, and there is a centralised reflection area in our Learning Hub at the heart of the Academy building which can all be used by children from any faith at any time.

Moral: Our moral education comes from our PSHE curriculum, which not only uses events throughout the year to focus our studies, for example, Earth Day, Anti-Bullying Week, Fair Trade and Safer Internet Day, but also provides bespoke learning for children based on their particular needs.

Social:  Our children are supported in their social endeavours with opportunities for friendship work and support as well as our British Values class assemblies using Picture News to discuss relevant events in the news as well as rights and responsibilities.

Cultural: Dawley Academy engages in faiths from other cultures regularly, with events celebrated such as Chinese New Year, Eid, and Diwali.  Our curriculum engages children in learning about other cultures through a number of lessons, for example: RE, cookery, history, music and English, allowing children to engage in cultural work in a variety of ways.
